  • General Manager
    Position Overview

    This role is responsible for leading the mechanical engineering and operations functions, including design detailing and standardization, leading to business expansion and profitability. The incumbent will be in charge of building and developing a team of 300 resources within 2 years.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategy & Market Expansion

    • Short-term & long- term business development strategies
    • Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies

    Technical & Operational Leadership

    • Establish, set up, and optimize mechanical functions and workflows for projects
    • Strategize talent pool creation - Set up processes for hiring, training, performance reviews. Ensure effective task delegation and monitor performance through Continuous Improvement Processes (CIPs) for all engineering roles.
    • Plan & execute projects in a stipulated time.
    • Conduct inspections, audits, and risk management, including CAPA monitoring and issue resolution.
    • Ensure compliance with industry safety standards, regulatory requirements, and client-specific technical specifications.
    • Maintain engineering standards and quality assurance protocols.
    • Review customer complaints and feedback, implementing necessary design improvements.
    • Capture near-misses and develop safety solutions / CAPA measures.
    • Facilitate effective stakeholder communication and coordination within and across teams.
    • Drive automation technology transformations, promoting best practices in design and operations.
    • Foster a culture of simplicity and agility.

    Business & Financial Management

    • Identify new markets, market trends, opportunities and revenue streams in automation
    • Prepare departmental budgets, monitor costs, and identify savings opportunities
    • Develop pricing strategies and cost-saving initiatives
    • Contribute to overall business P&L optimization

    Client Engagement & Business Development

    • Clarify client problem statements and develop cost-effective proposals
    • Secure client buy-in and design approvals
    • Build and nurture long-term relationships with clients and external stakeholders

    Performance matrix and key performance Indicators (KPIs)

    Market Expansion & Strategy: Successful execution of growth initiatives, entry into new markets, adoption of emerging technologies

    • Team Leadership & Development: Mentoring and developing a team of 300 engineers, enhancing skills, deploying retention & rewards mechanism and implementing KPI-based performance management
    • Mechanical Function Optimization: Establishing and improving workflows, processes, and procedures for project execution, measured by efficiency and standards adherence
    • Project Delivery & Quality: Timely, within-budget, scope-compliant project execution aligned with safety and quality benchmarks
    • Design Standardization & Localization: Promoting modularization, standardization, and localization efforts
    • Technological Advancement: Adoption of new technologies and best practices leading to productivity gains and innovation.
    • Operational Excellence: Maintaining high engineering standards and quality assurance across projects.
    • Cost Efficiency: Initiating and monitoring cost-saving initiatives through process improvements and strategic procurement.
    • Business Development: Securing new clients and projects, expanding the business pipeline.
    • Client Engagement & Proposal Success Rate: Effectiveness in leading proposal presentations and cultivating long-term client relationships.
    • Client Satisfaction & Retention: Achieving high satisfaction scores, repeat business, and long-term relationships.

    Travel & Client Interaction:

    • Clients & site visits as per project and client engagement requirements.
    • Flexibility to work across different time zones to coordinate with global clients.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred)
    • 15+ years in mechanical engineering, automation & robotics projects
    • Minimum 3+ years of team leadership experience (150+ engineers)
    • Proven experience in project management, business development, P&L
    • Experience in setting up and optimizing mechanical design & operation functions
    • Strong leadership and communication skills
    • PMP Certification a plus
    • Awareness of Industry 4.0, IOT integration, AI in robotics
    • Familiarity with supply-chain management and vendor relationships
